GARDEN SECURITY

We have a small compact garden, in which we have put up fences and overhangs.   Unfortunately, no matter what we did Caesar managed to escape.
As we have no trees around the perimeter, I thought that we may be able to electrify the top of the fence as I had seen in Holland.

You can easily see the 2 orange wires strung between the yellow brackets around the top of the fences and catteries.   The control box is housed in the garage and we switch it on all day, when cats can have freedom in the garden without us watching and worrying about them.

The cats soon learn not to climb too high.  I personally tested the 'kick' (shock) that the wires would give - and it does make you jump, but does not harm the cats.   Caesar to my knowledge climbed twice and got zapped, he jumped down into the garden, shook his head and ran into his pen.   He was completely unharmed - but learnt not to climb - rapidly.

We can now let all the cats out in turn, to have a more natural life and they really enjoy it, especially as we have recently put in a small pool for added interest.
